Providing training, education & work experience for people with a learning disability.

Charity trying to make a difference

Haylands Farm project is run for people with learning difficulties and is run by the Isle Of Wight branch of Mencap. Haylands Farm is a working environment that provides work and training services to adults with a learning disability. Our aim is to provide and maintain an environment which is supportive to the training needs of the students who attend Haylands Farm. Help us to surive and make a donation today.

"Car for a Year"

Wight Motors has celebrated 80 years in business and Haylands Farm has been presented with a new Hyundai Getz for a year. Wight Motors CarZone advertised for potential charities in the County Press, the garage staff were asked to partiscipate by nominating their favourate charities and this along with our application lead them to chose Haylands Farm.

Give Aluminium to Local Community Projects - Cash for Cans.

Our aluminium can recycling unit has just been awarded an grant from The Isle Of Wight Charitable Trust to purchase a new van in order to continue our work in collecting from can banks across the Island. Our can recycling unit caters for the more capable students to gain work experience.

Ryde in Bloom

We currently have the contract for planting out of Ryde Town 2007. The newly formed Ryde Management Committee have decided to go ahead with the planting out of Ryde. Haylands Farm provides floral displays which are situated around the town. Our students work hard by growing the plants from seedlings in order to fulfil the contract and it makes them feel as if they are part of the community.

"Reel 2 Reel" Project

Funding recieve from National Mencap and Community Champions enabled our students to start the "Reel 2 Reel" project. Our students are trained in using a digital camcorder and computer software in order to make a promotional DVD of their working environment. At present 5 students are working on the project, and learning skills such as team working, communication. The funding has enabled the project to purchase new equiptment, a computer system and camcorder.
